About the challenge

ECU students, get ready to fire up your creativity and unleash your innovation, collaboration, and problem-solving skills at ECU Spark! You’ll have the opportunity to put your technical skills to the test and tackle big challenges with your innovative solutions. You’ll be able to showcase your technical skills, collaborate with like-minded individuals, and present your winning idea to a panel of judges! Plus, did we mention there are prizes? Save the date and mark your calendars; this is an event you won’t want to miss!

Schedule

8:30 AM — Doors open/Check-in

9:00 AM – 9:15 AM — Opening Ceremony

9:15 AM — Hacking begins!

12:00 PM — Lunch

5:15 PM — Hacking ends!

5:30 PM – 6:30 PM — Judging & Dinner

6:30 PM – 6:45 PM — Judge Deliberation

6:45 PM – 7:00 PM — Winners announced!

Requirements

What to Build

Spark is an open hackathon, meaning all projects ideas are welcome; however, we do ask that all original code is written between 9:15 and 5:15 the day of the event. Any code borrowed from another source (e.g. GitHub, GeeksforGeeks), must be properly disclosed.

What to Submit

Please submit all code used for your project as well as any supplemental material as desired. GitHub repository links are preferred, but not required. Cite use of AI to the best of your ability. Projects will be judged primarily on the strength of their in-person presentation.
